The legendary Trio Martinů was founded at the Czech Conservatoire in 1990; the current members have remained unchanged since 1993. Playing an all-Czech programme, their concerts are testament to their glowing reputation and their musicianship and authenticity stamp them as worthy heirs to the great Czech musical tradition.
From 1996 they studied at Vienna Hochschule fur Musik. In 1995, they received the annual award of the Czech Chamber Music Society. Since then they have toured widely, taking in Japan, Korea as well as all European countries. Their visits to Britain are rare, but much anticipated by connoisseurs. They have recorded most of the piano trio repertoire, their performances of their Czech compatriots being particularly well regarded.
